Just One Night, Part 1: The Stranger

Just One Night, Part 1: The Stranger - Kyra Davis 3.5 stars. This is a quick little serialized read. The next part is due out in March 2013. This was an enjoyable read and the lead couple were extremely hot together. Erotic Romance novellas are all the rage right now and The Stranger: Just One Night Part I is a nice little addition to this genre. It is quite short, only 120 pages and I was able to read it in an evening. The novella begins as Kasie Fitzgerald is in Las Vegas for a weekend of fun with her best friend Simone. Kasie has been in a lackluster long term relationship with Dave for quite a while now and she expects to marry him soon. Simone wants Kasie to sow her wild oats just one more time. So Kasie does…A side note: I’ve often wondered how there are so many gorgeous billionaires out there in Romancelandia, and why is it that they are the best lovers. It must be a common fantasy for a woman to find the man that will sweep her off her feet and take care of all her needs, otherwise we wouldn’t be reading about it. But I digress.Back to Kasie. Kasie meets the stunningly handsome Robert Dade and sparks fly. I loved Robert – he was attentive to Kasie’s needs, allowed Kasie to take the lead in the relationship, and he was an all-round nice guy. These two sizzle together. There are a lot of hot and steamy scenes. But wait, what about Dave? Here’s the thing:Dave is a control freak. Dave is portrayed as a calculating man who carefully weighs each option. Every aspect of Dave’s life feels choreographed and every step is planned. Kasie describes kissing Dave as similar to eating a baked potato, which has got to be one of the weirdest descriptions I’ve seen, but rather effective. At the end of her fantastic weekend, Kasie returns to her regular life. Dave proposes to her in front of family and friends. She says yes, even though she is clearly attracted to Robert. The novella ends in quite the cliffhanger, but have no fear – there are two sequels planned: Exposed (March 18, 2013) and Binding Agreement (May 20, 2013) come out soon. Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for a review copy of this book. Review posted on Badass Book Reviews.
