Edited 12/24/12 - Series reread. Even better the 2nd time. I'm amazed at all the tiny things I missed the first read. Original review - I adored The Siren by Tiffany Reisz. The Siren was an emotional ride: I laughed, I cried, I was shocked and surprised. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I want more! The Siren is the story of Nora Sutherlin. Nora is a successful erotica writer and she is ready to write her next book. She has enlisted the services of a new editor Zach Easton. Zach’s personality is the exact opposite of Nora’s. Where Zach is serious and dour, Nora is playful and irreverent. Nora is put through a difficult writing schedule. She has six weeks to finish her novel. One of the things that I enjoyed about the book was the way in which the author portrayed each character. The central character Nora had a lot of depth. Nora enjoyed shocking the men in her life. Her sense of humor is filled with sexual innuendo. Her playful emails with Zach had me giggling. Nora is full of contrasts – she is an erotica writer living with Wesley her 19 year old virgin houseboy. There is another side to Nora, and a reason for her financial success. Nora is the top Domme in her area, a lucrative position with a large client list. Zach was also intriguing. Estranged from his young wife, Zach is waiting for the divorce papers to come through. You get a sense that Zach really doesn’t want to split up with Grace, but he doesn’t know how to tell her. Zach has a strong sense of morals and no matter how many buttons Nora seems to push, he stands by his not shagging his writers rule. The other men in Nora’s life are interesting too. Kingsley Edge is a character that I would love to see more of in future books. What a fascinating character. I’m not going to say much about Soren, other than he made me feel a little uncomfortable. Actually - a lot uncomfortable. I haven’t read too many BSDM books but I feel that the author did an excellent job explaining this lifestyle and its attractions. The tour into the BSDM club The 8th Circle was fascinating if not a little scary. There was a lot going on there, and Soren made an excellent, if not imposing guide. The Siren was an enjoyable read. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.Favorite Quotes:“K-dar,” Nora said and tapped the side of her nose. Kinksters can smell it on each other. And my Wesley smells like warm vanilla.”“I do love a man with a big vocabulary.”“Why is my personal life of such fascination to you, I cannot fathom.”“I’m a cat.
