The highlight of Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider’s Guide was the novella Father Mine. Father Mine takes place after the birth of Nalla to Bella and Zsadist. Bella is struggling with the demands of a young infant, the insecurities of being a new parent, and postpartum body issues. Zsadist is also struggling with his own personal demons and his past. I loved how this story filled in the gaps up to the moment in Lover Avenged where Zsadist is portrayed as the doting and devoted father to Nalla. This story showed the long emotional battle that both Zsadist and Bella had to overcome. Very well done.The rest of the guide contains a wealth of information about the series. Interviews with the characters, deleted scenes, favorite scenes, book outlines, questions and answers on the series, are also included. There is also a section for aspiring writers where JR Ward gives writing tips from her own experience. I also enjoyed the author’s descriptions of the characters, how they got inside her head and spoke with her (some more than others). For fans of this series, The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider’s Guide is a must read.
