Club Shadowlands (Masters of the Shadowlands, #1)

Club Shadowlands (Masters of the Shadowlands, #1) - Cherise Sinclair Thanks to Allromance.com and their 12 days of Christmas, I was able to sample a genre of books that I would not have necessarily sought out. Do any of you remember The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Do you remember how it started on that dark and stormy night? Brad and Janet’s car broke down and the only house in the area was the spooky mansion? They arrive soaked and are told that there is a private party going on? Well, this ebook had a very similar start. Jessica skids off the road and walks over to this large mansion. She knocks on the door and asks for help. She is told that a private party is going on and she would not be able to stay. The owner of the house Master Z sees her and invites her to clean up, shower off the mud, and get into some dry clothes while she is waiting for help. Now, this is no ordinary party, and there are papers to read and sign prior to entry. Jessica figures that she has nothing better to do, so she signs the papers without reading them and enters the party.I really enjoyed how the author portrayed this particular lifestyle. There was a dignity and respect for the subs that I did not know existed. Master Z (Zachary) was particularly sensitive to Jessica’s needs. There are some hot and surprisingly sexy moments. I also melted when Master Z called Jessica Kitten. Now where have I heard that before? Funny it had the same result with me. The description of the club was very interesting. So many different things happening - some in public and some in private. I was fascinated by all the rules and regulations involved in running such a place. I like how abusive doms were treated – they were kicked out of the club and blacklisted. My only disappointment is that the next book in the series does not continue Zachary and Jessica's story. It would be nice to see how everything turned out for them. I had a lot of fun reading this book and I will be looking for more of Cherise Sinclair’s books in the future.
