OK, here’s the thing. I haven’t really had any books that have done this to me. This book made me feel apathetic. I didn’t care if I finished it or not. It’s not because it was a horrible book, it wasn’t bad at all. It wasn’t good either. It was simply OK. But then, OK is just not good enough. Why? Take a look at the plot – this had the potential to be an excellent, intense, edge of my seat type of read. Tyler is a member of the A-TAC team, a CIA unit that works on covert missions. While on a mission delivering prototype detonators, her team is hijacked and she is the lone survivor. The rest of the book is spent trying to find the person or persons responsible for this crime and to stop those detonators from being used.Oh, and I left out the romance aspect. Right after her team is killed, and after a lengthy debrief, Tyler decides to console herself in a hotel bar and meets the one night stand guy of her dreams. Am I wrong to think that after having a near death experience, you would want to have a one night stand? Of course the man was compared to James Bond. Then she ends up working with him – how uncomfortable. What amazed me about this book was the amount of death that followed Tyler. It seemed like in each chapter someone either tried to kill Tyler or someone was killed.I have to admit that the last 15 pages were extremely exciting. I really was on the edge of my seat. It’s really too bad that the suspense could not have permeated the entire book. It would have greatly increased my enjoyment
