Anna Godbersen has a very nice writing style. It's formal, yet relaxing to read. Her third book in the Luxe series, Envy, continues the story of the Diana and Elizabeth Holland, Penelope Hayes, and Carolina Broad. The books take place in New York at the turn of the century and it gives us a glimpse of high society and the proper etiquette of the period. The books are addicting. I enjoyed the [b:The Luxe|1254951|The Luxe (Luxe, #1)|Anna Godbersen|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51sRUR%2B7c0L._SL75_.jpg|1243729] and [b:Rumors|2218252|Rumors (Luxe, #2)|Anna Godbersen|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51nSf98Br6L._SL75_.jpg|3117158] so much that I read them both in one day. You feel for the characters and how they were limited by their positions in society. You see how quickly a character can fall from grace, simply by the death of a benefactor or an indiscretion, or a loss of fortune.I would recommend this book and the series to anyone who enjoys a romantic, early 1900's read.
